3/13/2024 0 Comments Cad program 3d printingIncluded in these toolpaths is “support material”: automatically generated sacrificial sections that ensure suspended or cantilevered overhang sections of your part are supported during printing. A slicer takes a part, divides it into “layers” parallel to a user provided reference plane, and generates toolpaths for the print head to follow on each layer while extruding material. These paths are automatically generated by a slicer in all 3D printing software programs. Slicing: from solid body to printable partģD printers rely on toolpaths to execute their tasks. If you don’t use CAD but still want to 3D print a part, there are several large online repositories of printable STL files available for free download. If you export the entire file at once, the resultant STL often fixes both parts relative to each other, making them impossible to print. Multibody parts and assemblies: If you’re working with a multibody part or assembly, make sure that you export each part individually. The left side of the sphere is saved at a low resolution, while the right side is saved at a high resolution. Knowing the use of your part can inform what to prioritize.Ī line drawing of two halves of a sphere saved at different STL resolutions. Small meshes make realistic, accurate parts, but yield massive files that may be difficult for your 3D printing software to process. Large meshes yield smaller file sizes that process faster, but create parts that can be faceted and inaccurate. Mesh quality vs file size: When exporting STLs, CAD programs allow you to determine the density of a triangle mesh. When exporting these files, there are a couple of important factors to take into account: These files store 3D data by breaking your part’s surfaces up into a mesh of triangles, and can be exported from virtually any CAD program. While traditional subtractive machining relies on a combination of part drawings and Computer Aided Machining (CAM) files, 3D printers accept STL files. The first step in 3D printing is creating a file that 3D printing software can parse. There are four key steps to go from a part model to a 3D printed part: importing the part file from CAD into the software, turning that imported part file into a printable file, sending one or more of these files to your printer, and managing your printer(s) to maximize uptime and throughput. Learn basic CAD (Computer Aided Design) skills to create 3D models. In three one-hour sessions, we'll cover basic sketching, modeling techniques, and designing for 3D printing. Some of the things you'll learn include sketches, dimensions, extrudes, revolves, lofts, sweeps, fillets, patterns, and assembly.Different 3D printing software programs can vary greatly, but all have the same core elements and parse a unified file type. There are a number of different programs out there and they each offer unique features that may be helpful for you. Some programs are geared towards beginners, while others are more difficult to use, but offer more advanced features. Programs can also differ in their purpose. Some are CAD software that focus on creating precise mechanical drawings, while others are more for creative 3D drawing such as designing action figures. Say you have an idea for a great new bottle opener, or you just sketched a new character for your diorama of the Civil War, or a part broke on your model train and you can't find a replacement. By using 3D design software, you can render your idea into a 3D model on the computer. If you want to design chess pieces with your family on them, or if you want to custom-build a case for your cell phone, you can do that too!

The orbiting electron in Bohr’s model is assumed not to emit any electromagnetic radiation while moving about the nucleus in its stationary orbits, but the atom can emit or absorb electromagnetic radiation when the electron changes from one orbit to another. The Bohr model retains the classical mechanics view of circular orbits confined to planes having constant energy and angular momentum, but restricts these to quantized values dependent on a single quantum number, n. If classical electromagnetic theory is applied, then the Rutherford atom would emit electromagnetic radiation of continually increasing frequency (contrary to the observed discrete spectra), thereby losing energy until the atom collapsed in an absurdly short time (contrary to the observed long-term stability of atoms). If the requirements of classical electromagnetic theory that electrons in such orbits would emit electromagnetic radiation are ignored, such atoms would be stable, having constant energy and angular momentum, but would not emit any visible light (contrary to observation). According to classical mechanics, the Rutherford model predicts a miniature “solar system” with electrons moving about the nucleus in circular or elliptical orbits that are confined to planes. What causes the lines in these spectra? Why are the colors of the lines different? Suggest a reason for the observation that the spectrum of calcium is more complicated than the spectrum of hydrogen.īoth involve a relatively heavy nucleus with electrons moving around it, although strictly speaking, the Bohr model works only for one-electron atoms or ions. The spectra of hydrogen and of calcium are shown below. 3/13/2024 0 Comments Big swirl lollipopsTucked in an English garden in Marblehead, Stowaway Sweets has crafted chocolates by hand for almost 100 years. The rest of the album was similarly inspired. I really get along with him – we are very good friends.” Then you look at him and you just have to start laughing, because he looks like Ronald McDonald. Everyone is going ‘ That’s Vincent Price?’ Then he goes in and he does this really Edwardian dramatic reading, and it scares the hell out of you. “He comes in and he’s wearing a Hawaiian shirt and purple striped pants. “We were waiting for to come into the studio and expecting him to be dressed all in black,” Alice later recalled. Not only did the two Vincents sound great together on record – so much so that years later, Michael Jackson was inspired to call on Price to perform a similar role on Thriller – they also shared the same pragmatic, arm’s-length attitude towards their respective onstage personas. While Alice, brought up on TV late-night monster movies, saw himself as the Bela Lugosi of rock. For Price, had he not been born to an earlier age, would have made a convincing rock overlord. When, months later, the singer and producer were sewing ideas together for Welcome To My Nightmare using some of the music they’d originally intended for their now aborted movie – including a track called The Black Widow – Ezrin suggested they call on Price to provide a spooky narrative intro. (Image credit: Tony Korody/Sygma/Sygma via Getty Images) It was at this meeting, “united by Monte Cristo cigars,” that Ezrin half-jokingly asked Price, “How would you like to make your rock’n’roll debut?” Bemused, Price looked at him and said, “Really, do you think I ought to?” Ezrin told him, “I think you’d be a total rock star.” To which Price replied simply: “Let me know where and when.” Though the movie was never made, one of the directors they discussed it with, Daniel Mann, introduced them to legendary horror-movie actor Vincent Price on the set of Mann’s 1975 movie, Journey Into Fear. Let’s do this whole thing about this guy Steven, and let’s make it his nightmare.” And then Alice came up with the idea, we could do a movie, but let’s do this great stage show. “So we had this little thing our minds that Steven was having a problem differentiating between reality and imagination, that started the whole thought about the nightmare – and that’s where we looked at each other and went ‘Hey, that’s great’. From that point on, he is transformed, and by night he craves flesh. They are buried under the snow and when they are eventually found, there is only him. They’re going skiing in his private plane, there’s an accident. The concept for the album, Ezrin recalls, came from a movie idea he and Alice had been discussing, “which was about this guy, Steven, and the general theme of it was that this guy is a rock star and he’s having an affair with somebody. The album was recorded over three months at Toronto’s Soundstage studio, followed by stints at New York’s Record Plant East, Electric Lady and A&R Studios. Headed by the twin guitars of Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter, this was the same blisteringly hot line-up that had recorded Reed’s live Rock’n’Roll Animal album.Įzrin says, “On Welcome To My Nightmare, I was actually working with a group of people that I had worked on other stuff with – I made a band and brought them all to Toronto and made that album, fairly quickly.” The band members were, he recalls, “all really into the process, and every single day was exciting.” Given free rein to assemble his own band, Ezrin brought in Lou Reed’s backing group. Now, for Welcome To My Nightmare, he was back. Ezrin had overseen the four best Alice Cooper band albums, co-writing several key tracks, but had bowed out before Muscle Of Love, sensing resistance from certain band members who wanted to wrest power back from him. For his own first solo album, Alice set out to ramp up the theatricality, while taking the music to a whole new level of professionalism and panache.Ĭrucial in this latter respect was Alice’s reconciliation with producer Bob Ezrin. By now, both Neal Smith and Michael Bruce were exploring solo projects. As a result, the Alice Cooper band’s final album together, Muscle Of Love, in 1973, had been a prosaic, muso-driven affair, and consequently less successful than its predecessor, Billion Dollar Babies. |
